All US Whole Foods stores will be selling ground grass-fed beef for $4.99/lb today, September 2nd, only. This deal will only be available at the meat counter and there is a limit of 10lbs per person.
Also, if you decide to get in on this deal, here are some tips on cooking grass-fed beef:
• Don’t cook grass-fed beef cold; it is best when removed from the refrigerator 15 minutes or so prior to cooking.
• When cooking on the grill, let the flames burn down more than is recommended for other meat. Also, it doesn’t need as much cooking time.
• When cooking in the oven, lower the oven’s cooking temperature by about 25°F, and the cooking time will stay about the same.
• Always use tongs, never a fork, to turn your beef; don’t press or flatten during cooking in order to retain precious juices.
In my opinion, this is about a B- price, but I would love to hear from those of you who buy organic/grass-fed beef often!

If you missed the sale, don’t forget that many growers sell direct to consumers. If you don’t know a grower, find one at http://www.GrassFedBeefDirectory.com. It may even be cheaper than Whole Foods and you’ll know your grower personally.

I totally agree with your B- for this price. I only buy organic grass fed beef for my family and we have been buying it for many years now. I have been sticking to target for my beef here lately and the price per pound is 5.99-7.29 depending on the brand. When it goes on sale it usually is 4.99-5.99, again depending on the brand. But with that said, it is very hard to find coupons or sales for meat and especially when buying organic, and I havn’t seen a sale better than this for a long while. So I say if your in need go ahead and stock up!!
