I stayed up late last night glued to my television watching a documentary on the events of 9/11. It was a stark reminder of how media consumed many of us on that day. I was only in high school at the time, but I can remember rushing from class to class to ensure that I didn’t miss an ounce of what was happening…as if I could somehow change it if I knew what was going on. Despite the constant flow of media coverage that poured into our lives during the next week, I’m not quite sure that any of us kids really understood the impact of that day on our lives and the lives of so many others. Teachers told us that our lives would never be the same, and they were right.
Today marks the anniversary of that heartbreaking day. A day when nearly 3,000 people lost their lives. 9/11 should be a day that we always remember…a day that reminds us of what is truly important.
Lord~
Help us to remember what it means to be Americans—
a people endowed with abundant blessings.
Help us to cherish the freedoms we enjoy and inspire us to stand
with courage, united as one Nation in the midst of any adversity.
Lord, hear this prayer for our Nation. Amen.

Thank you for this Jennie. There are so many other websites out there that didn’t even bother to mention 9/11 today. 🙁
