The words “Family Friendly” has become all too rare these days. It is very important to me that Bargain Blessings is a family friendly website and I love to support other causes and other companies that share the same values.
Game Hub is the new Sam’s Club interactive family guide to video gaming! Game Hub features the latest in family friendly video games and consoles available to their members. The website even features a “Guide to Gaming” educational tool that explains concepts such as rating systems, technology, and industry terms in an easy-to-understand, video format, empowering Sam’s Club members to make better decisions for their families. Just a few of the topics covered on Game Hub are:
How are Games Rated?
We all know how movies are rated, but do you understand how video games are rated? I’ve been shocked at some of the language and scenes that have been included in video games recently. Understanding the rating system is key to making sure you are aware of the content in the games your family is interacting with.
Do the ratings cover online game play?
I’ve never thought much about this, but it is really another area that parents should be aware of. Online games sometimes have chat rooms that may not have many restrictions on access and content.
Game Hub also touches to on the basics such as “What is a Wii?” and “What games can I play on my system?”. Another area which I found very useful is the Glossary which explains commonly used gaming terminology. I was shocked to find that I did not know most of the words included in the glossary.
This is a fast moving world that we live in and when it comes to family safety online and with technology in general, it is always wise to stay one step ahead. It is very nice to see that Sam’s Club is stepping up to provide a resource for parents to do just that!
