Lol Emilee, you must go to the same Safeway I do. 😛 I was told this week that if an item is on sale, that is considered a coupon. I.e. I was trying to buy (2) 20 pk Diet Pepsi. They are on sale for $5.99. I had a $2/2 in-ad Safeway q and a $2/2 man q from last week. She told me that the $5.99 is considered one coupon, so I could only use one more. Funny because in the same order, I did the Tree Top applesauce sale priced at $2.79, used an in ad q to make it $1.99, and a manufacturer’s q for .50/1. I did the same with the Betty Crocker fruit snacks and the Jiff peanut butter to go. They all had sale tags, I used an in ad q and a manufacturers q for all of them. But she wouldn’t accept the Pepsi! Anyone else run into this problem? I have never heard that the SALE price counted as a coupon. I told her I’ll just wait for Albertsons to have another sale because I can go there with a lot less hassle. She didn’t even seem to care that I was taking my business elsewhere!
Emilee says
I’m not sure if anyone else has ran into this issue, but there is 1 particular Safeway I now AVOID! Both the cashier and the head clerk told me that “One coupon per purchase of specified item,” as stated on most coupons, means you can not use more than 1 of the same coupon per transaction. Huh??????? Since when? Did they change something that I’m not aware of because I thought I was up to date on all of the store policies. Shouldn’t that mean you have to purchase 1 item per coupon? Last time I checked they didn’t have a coupon limit…….am I wrong???
Andrea says
it was last week 🙁
Andrea says
I swear I saw Hamburger Helper for $1 this week, but now I don’t see it. Am I finally losing my mind lol?
Missy says
Correction: Hillshire Farms $.35 is in RP not SS and the Suddenly Salad is in the 6/10 SS not 6/20. 🙂
Dina says
My Safeway ad lists the Kelloggs Raisan Bran at 5 for $10 or $2.00 each. I saw it listed at $2.50 above. Could this be a case of different ads showing different prices? Has anyone checked the price at their Safeway? I won’t be able to get there until Monday but we just used up our last box and need some!! 🙂

Sarah says

Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks 4.5-8oz $1.49 with in-ad coupon

The coupons we got on the Ocean Spray / Motts / Sunkist in Castle Rock are $.50/1 so $.49 each – partial yeehaw. Will wait for a 3/4s yeehaw until I see what’s in the sale.
Terrible thing tho, since we were able to nab these for free a while back, I’m looking at $.49 and wondering if I should do it or hold out and hope for a potential free situation. Oh that Kenny Rogers, hold ’em or fold ’em?
Andrea says
Hazel-I was thinking the same thing. I probably will hold the 50/1. I haven’t seem them buy 4 save in a little bit.
Hazel says
(phew) I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking along those lines 🙂
Andrea says
The Ocean Spray/Mots/Sunkists are included in the sale! The cashier tried to scan my first q and it wouldn’t scan for some reason so she just typed it in manually as coupon .50. I told her that it didn’t double. She told me that qs don’t double if you use an in-store q too. I told her yes, they do and could she please try to rescan the coupons. She did and *gasp* they doubled just fine! Paid $1.59 for 3 boxes. Will save the rest of my qs to see if they come up free soon. This was the MANAGER who checked me out at customer service because they had 1 lane open and 8 people in line with carts FULL of groceries. I only had these 3 boxes of fruit snacks so they sent me over to customer service to check out. I cant believe she doesn’t even know their own coupon policies and how it works. This is why I avoid Safeway unless I have to!!! Oh well, got some fruit snacks to tide us over till the next big sale 🙂
Hazel says
^5 on the score and being able to get the right results. That would have been fun to see!
I think we should do a sitcom on dealing with register people, it would be a hoot and a half.
Now we’ll do a collective chant for a “buy 4” sale.
Michelle says
My Safeway told me today that effective with the start of the Just For U program they are no longer accepting any online coupons. Does anyone know if this is company policy or a single confused checker?
Jaime says
I was told by a checker that we no longer cut out the add coupons, but they still accept online coupons.
Jennie says
Michelle~ When you say “online coupons”, do you mean printable coupons? If so, no, that is not the case…just a very confused cashier. 😉
Edna Lee says
Michelle,
I had a cashier tell me that once and I went to customer service and was told the cashier was wrong, I even provided them with the cashier’s name in the hopes that they woould inform the cashier of the true policy.
