Below are your Safeway deals for the week! There sure are a lot of meat “sales” for Memorial Day, but I’m not overly impressed by them as you can tell by the grades. Please let us know in the comments section if you come across any deals that I missed!

Tamara says
Is the buy 2 get 3 free in 12 packs of soda a good deal? You have to pay $12 for it all.
JoAnn says
Tamara,
If you have soda drinker(s) in your home this is a pretty good deal. I would say if you have room try and stock up. We probably will not see this great of a deal until 4th of July weekend. Once in awhile they will have one where it is buy 2 get 3 12 pack of sodas and get free chips or crackers but we might not see that since it is summer. We have not seen a great soda deal in awhile. The last great deal I have seen was at least over a year ago and it was $1.99 a 12 pack. The best deal I have ever seen was several, several years ago and it was about $1.75 a 12 pack. So, $2.40 for a 12 pack is a good deal.

Jennie says
Levi~ Some Safeway stores double coupons. My match-ups are based on double coupons. 🙂
STEPHANIE says
I CANT FIND THE LOWRY MARINADE COUPON. WAS IT REGIONAL? I GET THE DENVER POST.
Jennie says
Yes, it does sound like this was regional for Denver.
Tara U'Ren says
I also couldn’t find the Lawry’s coupon or the one for the Ocean Spray Blueberry cocktail. 🙁
Lisa says
I didn’t get it in the Castle Rock version of the Denver Post, either. Guess only a few people were lucky enough to get them.
Dawn says
I get the grocery ads (Soopers, Safeway, Sunflower and Sprouts) in my mailbox every Tuesday, with sales starting on Wednesday. Is there anyone who knows how to request those mailings? I did a few years ago, but have forgotten how I did it.
Kierst says
They have the ads at the front of the store and new circulars come out on Tuesdays I think. If you get your newspaper delivered you should also get the circulars (again, I think on Tuesday).
Al says
So excited!!! Went today and got 5 Jack Daniel BBQ Sauces, 3 Lawry’s Marinades, and a bottle of Wishbone Blue Cheese Dressing all for a total of 19 cents!!! 99% savings-my best deal yet at Safeway-so excited!!!
Jennie says
Yay! That is awesome! 🙂 Congrats!
Kelly says
I’m new to bargainblessings can you give me a pointer, tip? For example in one post for King Sooper:
Jack Daniel’s Barbecue Sauce 19oz .99
-.55 MQ (5/8 SS)
=FREE! A
How is it free if theres no coupons? What does the -.55 MQ means? and 5/8 SS
JoAnn says
Kelly,
5/8 means Sunday May 8 and SS means Smart Source. Smart Source is one of the coupon companies that puts out coupons in the Sunday paper. -.55 MQ means the Jack Daniel’s Barbecue Sauce is a manufacturer coupon and it is worth 55 cents. It is free because most Safeway stores double up to a $1. So, the coupon is 55 cents and the store will take off another 44-45 cents. I say 44-45 cents because Safeway does not do overage and 45 cents would be overage.
So, if you are looking for the Jack Daniels BBQ sauce coupon you need to look through the coupon circulars on May 8 in the Smart Source section.
When you look through your Sunday paper here are the coupon circulars you are looking for Smart Source, Red Plum, Proctor and Gamble (P&G), and General Mills. You will not get all of these circulars every Sunday. Proctor and Gamble (P&G) arrive at the first of the month and sometimes a second time during the month. P&G has coupons for Tide, Swiffer, Bounty, Old Spice, Oral B, Dove, Cover Girl, Gillette, Dawn, Charmin, etc. General Mills arrive about once every 3 or 4 months. It has coupons for Cheerios, Fiber One, Yoplait, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Totinos, Green Giant frozen vegetables, etc. Red Plum and Smart Source has a variety of coupons but totally diferent coupons from General Mills and P&G. They can have Quaker, Dove, Hershey, Tropicana, Dole, Pepperidge Farm, Lays, Post, Pam, and they even carry store coupons. Most times the store coupons are for Target but once in a while it can be for Walgreens. Store coupons can be used with manufacturer coupons.
I suggest attending on of Jennie’s classes. She is an awesome teacher and you will learn alot. When you attend her class take plenty of notes cause there is a lot of info to remember. Good luck.
Jennie says
JoAnne~ Thank you so much for taking the time to answer Kelly’s question. You ROCK! 🙂
Summer says
I am pretty upset because I got to checkout with my Lawry’s and they wouldn’t accept my coupon because I was trying to make an overage (even though I still had a balance from other items in the cart). The manager even came over and said they wouldn’t do anything for me since I was trying to create an overage and they wouldn’t adjust the coupon or take it at the .50 face value…any one else have this issue????
Jennie says
Summer~ That stinks. I would call the store manager and reference #1 on their coupon policy which clearly states that they will adjust coupons down to the amount of an item: https://www.safeway.com/ifl/grocery/coupons-policy
Summer says
What about line #11 though since that’s kind of what they used to argue their refusal of my coupon?
Jennie says
I would still suggest contacting the store manager and asking them to explain their reasoning behind their decision. It is confusing to consumers when they issue a policy and then decide not to follow it just because they don’t feel like it. They will get reimbursed for the coupon, so there is no reason for them not to accept it.
Summer says
Okay – thanks for your help. I’ve never tried to use coupons at Safeway and it wasn’t a pleasant first experience 🙂
Jennie says
You bet. I would also tell the manger what you said above it. It is important for them to know how their front end mangers behavior affects customer’s desire to shop there. Safeway needs the business and this sort of thing doesn’t exactly help. 🙂
Summer says
I did end up calling corporate because the highest manager was the one who refused to adjust the price. Corporate did tell me they’re making a big adjustment to their coupon policy that I think you should know about. In the coming days they will now state that the “Club Price” (sale price) will now be treated as a manufacturer’s coupon. Therefore, you cannot receive the club price and use a manufacturer’s coupon together on items anymore. The only way they’ll accept a manufacturer coupon is on a regularly priced item. – just wanted to let you know.
Jennie says
Well we will have to see if that actually happens, but if it does I have to say that I do not think they will be staying in business very long and I’m sure manufacturers will have to say something about it since a sale price is in no way shape or form a manufacturer coupon.
Nichole says
Every Safeway that I have been in always has an ad at the front of the store.
chelsey says
My denver post didn’t come with safeway inad coupons? Do they automatically take off the prices at register or do I need those coupons?? I only had a 1 page safeway ad this week
Jody says
You need the coupons. They should have copies of the ad when you walk in the store, but if not then check at customer service.
Jennie says
Hi Chelsey~ In-ad coupons come in the weekly Safeway ad. Like the other readers mentioned you should be able to get them at the entrance of your store. 😉
Tracey says
I forgot to look today, are there ads with store coupons available at the front of stores? I would like to get something else without having to wait til Sunday paper to get another in store coupon 🙂
Tracey says
I called and went today too and they said it has been gone a few weeks and $10 purchase is no longer required!
Dawn says
I went today and talked with a Safeway rep, who said that there is no more need to buy $10 worth of items in order to redeem their Safeway coupons! That policy is abolished!! Yeah!!! No more extra stress at check out!!
Dawn says
I am noticing that there is no more mention of having to purchase $10 worth of total products in order to receive the Safeway coupon prices. Is this a new corporate policy? I’d be thrilled if it was, as I don’t know how many times I have forgotten that $10 rule right as I’m checking out..ugh!! Looking so forward to meeting you in a few weeks, Jennie!
