Safeway’s Frozen Food Month has begun! This promotion makes it very possible to stock up your freezer for very little money!
Purchase $15 in participating frozen food products and use the $5 off in-ad coupon. There is a limit of one $5 off coupon per transaction. You will want to use the scenarios that I list below or mix and match your own items to reach that $15 amount. The key is to stick as close to that $15 as possible. If you go too far over $15 your savings is not as significant and if you are under $15 the $5 coupon will not deduct.

It’s pretty good to have Bargains at a grocery Store where we go regularly. We could collect more groceries and products from various sections like personal care, household, dairy and meat. I just came from Safeway. Bought 6 boxes, used (3) $1/2 coupons. I got a $3 oyno catalina and a catalina for $1.50 off 3 boxes of fruit snacks.
Also, the 1 lb. Tony Roma ribs were marked $5.00 each. I bought 3,but I didn’t see anything about a limit.

I bought 5 Quaker Instant Oatmeals and 4 Betty Crocker fruit snacks and didn’t get any catalinas at the Safeway at Broadway and HR Pkwy…I asked the mgr and he said he didn’t know anything about those catalinas – has anyone else not gotten their catalinas?

When I got my cat for the fruit snacks, it also printed coupon for 1.50 off of 3 more! Also, my asparagus was 1.99 not .99 🙁 I’m in Westminster.

The DiGorno pizzas are $4.49 in the ad I have and I went to Safeway to look for the coupon book and the pizzas are priced at $4.49, so it would make them $2.24 is that still a good deal?

In each transaction the catalina will only print once for buying 5 or more, so even if you bought 20 you would only get one cat! So you have to break it up into individual transactions to make them be “free”.

Mine for the pizza and fruit snacks printed after I paid, so I split up my transactions in order to use them immediately. Also, the Digorno pizzas are $4.49, not $3.99.

I have a question about the CPK frozen pizzas. Don’t the catalinas print out at the end of the sale? So how do you use them on the same transaction?

The catalinas popped out of the machine right when she rang in the pizza, not at the end…does that make sense? So my cashier used them when I needed to pay.

Usually I am not allowed to use them on the same transaction, even though they spit out early in the transaction because they’re supposed to be used for future purchases. That means, you can split your transaction into things that will spit out the catalinas and then some stuff that will just be purchased on sale with a coupon. Or, go back again and get something later. I try to use mine right away, because they usually expire pretty quickly.

Lisa is correct. Catalinas are intended to be used on your next transaction. Some cashiers will allow you do use it on the same one, but I suggest breaking your transactions up or using your catalinas to pay for your next week’s shopping.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised when my cashier asked me if I wanted to use them right away…I have always used them on future purchases.
Also, on a side note…if you are buying the fruit snacks, you can buy 6 and they will still all be free. Buy 6 at 0.99, use (3) 0.50/2 coupons, get back a $3 catalina. It makes for fewer transactions when you are trying to stock up! 🙂
