Frozen
Safeway is starting this year’s Frozen Food Promotion this week and it is a little different than what we have seen in years past. This year, when we spend $10 on participating Frozen Food products (there are over 200), we will receive a Catalina coupon for $5 off the purchase of any “New” Freezer Section products. Some of these new products are listed in this week’s ad and I’ve listed just a few of them below. Don’t forget that it is ok to use to combine Manufacturer and Store coupons with this promotion. I believe that your total will only need to be over $10 after all store coupons and sales are deducted, but this is not outlined in the ad so please let me know if you discover otherwise.
This promotion will run through March 31st and you’ll need to keep in mind that all of your items much be purchased in a single transaction to earn the $5 Catalina coupon. The ad does not specify a limit on the number of rewards you can earn in a single transaction, so that is something we will have to wait and see on. π We have plenty of time to work this frozen promotion, so if you don’t see anything that jumps out on you right now, it will be just fine to hold off. I personally hope to be able to get in on the CPK Pizza deal below, since buying two off them will almost get me to the $10 mark!
Kellogg’s Eggo Wafflers 10.7oz $2.50
Kellogg’s Simply Eggo 12.3oz $2.50
Kellogg’s Eggo Thick & Fluffy Family Pack 23.2oz
Kashi Steam Meals 9.5oz $2.99

The Castle Pines Safeway cashier yesterday told me that their policy had changed and that manufacturer’s coupons would not be accepted with Safeway coupons. She said she’d do it “one last time.” Has anyone else been told this?
Nicole says
This is the policy still posted on Safeway’s website: https://www.safeway.com/ifl/grocery/coupons-policy
The policy only mentions you can’t stack manufacturer coupons, there’s nothing about store coupons –
The internet printable issue may be a hard one to get around since new coupons are not printing the serial number with the barcode – I would imagine Safeway would adjust their policy to the new format eventually because they are not going to want to lose the money/business that those coupons bring in. Policy #11 seems to me to be their general argument, that it’s always up to the management to determine the policy of the moment/situation.
If you feel it is absolutely a make-or-break-coupon-must-go-through have them call corporate. I had to do an “on-principle” call to Target’s corporate and customer service accepted $20 worth of coupons my cashier & the store manager refused to give me. It took an extra 15 minutes, and even though I got the coupons accepted and my cash back, I have to say I didn’t feel all that great leaving the store. Sometimes it’s just better not fighting for a buck.

only a $1 cat for 3 boxes of nature valley missed the post above about that super bummed. I wouldn’t have bought them if I knew that. Oh well
Edna Lee says
I went to Saefway today and received quite a few catalinas; I bought 5 bags of Ore Ida fries and received a $3 cataline, got 3 California pizzas and received a $2 catalina, bought 7 Kraft fresh takes and got a $4 catalina, also got the $5 frozen catalina and then got the $10 catalina reward for spending $75 for a total of $24 in catalinas. A great day if I may say so.
Diane W says
I’m assuming some coupons were used for your purchase. I’m very curious about how much your receipt was? You bought items that I would definitely buy.
Thank you for your help!
Edna Lee says
Daine, my total before my card and coupons was $142, after my safeway club card, safeway in ad coupons, and manufacturers coupons my total went to $76; and then the cashier handed me $24 in catalinas, which I am planning to use toward next week’s trip. Glad that I could help. The only thing I did not have coupons for was the Ore Ida fries, but we were completely out of fries so I had to get the fries, the Ore Ida fries are on sale this week.
Dorothy says
BEWARE…I’m not sure if this is just my Safeway (in the Salida area) but I was told today that they have a new coupon policy. ALL of my printable coupons from the internet were rejected!!! The manager said that if they won’t scan or look questionable…they refuse them?? I explained that I spend hours couponing each week in an honest way but this did not change their minds! Please beware of this new policy. I am guessing websites that provide printable coupons will slowly disappear if this type of policy spreads? Darn! I missed out on my $4 off 4 Kelloggs cereal deal!
Elizabeth says
Dorothy, this happened to a friend of mine in Parker. I emailed Safeway and they did say if they won’t scan they won’t take them. They sent me this:
“We have provided you with the following Coupon Policy information to ensure that you are well informed of our practices with internet coupons.
(The following is from our online “Coupon Policy” page)
14. We accept internet printed coupons. The same manufacturer and store coupon rules above apply to all internet printed coupons.
15. Internet printed coupons must be capable of scanning at checkout.
16. Internet printed coupons must have serial numbers and must follow an industry-standard format.
17. Manufacturer internet printed coupons must clearly indicate that they are a manufacturer coupon and must have a valid manufacture address on the printed coupon.
18. We will not accept “free product” internet printed manufacturer coupons. “

The Hormel pork tenderloins are $5 today, I have both printed coupons and inserts for $1 off making them $4. Pretty awesome considering they are normally around $10-$11.
Jennie says
Nice find Nichole!
Hazel says
Small cans of Melitta Coffee are on sale for $4.99 and there are/were printables on smartsouce dot com for a buck off.
I nabbed these a few days ago but didn’t see them when I just checked. Do they poof once a person has printed their limit?
Ann says
When I went to Walmart they had $1 coupons for the California pizzas in the frozen section. I don’t eat a whole lot of pizza but thought it would make for a better deal for whoever was getting pizza anyways. ^_^

I have lots of Pet food coupons from 1/29/2012 insert (redplum). Please let me know if anyone is interested.

Purina Whisker Lickin’ Cat Treats are on sale 5/$6 and there is a $1.50 off 2 coupons that expires on Sunday making them .45 ea!
Duncan Hines cake mixes on sale 4/$5 and there was a recent .35 coupon making them .55 each.
Hormel Compleat Kids meals on sale 2/$3 with a .55 coupon – end up being .50 each. (I still think these are gross but kids seem to like them!)
Hazel says
I just hit the Kellogg’s site to see what coupons they’ve got available … I only saw 2 but that may be because I printed out some last week. I was able to nab Frosted Freaks $1.00/2 – 10.5oz or larger. That would put them at $1.49.
I need to pay attention, didn’t realize the $4/4 I had printed out ended yesterday. Argh on me.
Hazel says
CatalinaferCatFood!!
Friskies cans are on 10fer5 but there’s an in-ad coupon bringing them down to 10fer4. Using the coupon $1 off 30 Purina Friskies Canned Cat Food, exp. 4/15/12 (SS 01/15/12) brings them down to $.37 a can. But wait, there’s more! Catalina for $2.00 will come rolling out. Buy 20 cans get a buck, buy 30 or more get 2 bucks!
Tricky part is that you have to use 1 coupon from the flyer for every 10 cans you get so 3 in-ad coupons with the 1 MQ.
Whiskas Trays are on a 10fer5 – using B3G1 Whiskas Tray, exp. 3/17/12 (SS 01/22/12 R) brings them down to $.27 a tray. Awesome deal. My we fuzzballs love the Filet Mignon (or as we call it, Filet Meowgnon)
If you still have any of the Mentos Tubulars left ($0.55/1 Mentos Bottle, exp. 3/1/12 (SS 01/01/12 #2) it looks like these are on sale again so free gum. But, this one expires today so you’ll have to zoom to get your free chomp on.
Andrea says
Thanks Hazel for the heads up on the Mentos gum. My daughter loves the watermelon flavor. There was a more recent coupon for them as well-2/5 SS I think.
Hazel says
10-4 Andrea … you’re so right, thanks much. I have a short attention span and didn’t look beyond π
$0.55/1 Mentos Up2U Bottle, exp. 3/31/12 (SS 02/05/12 R) – is that the same thing?
Andrea says
Yes it is. I picked up 2 for free this morning. Also, I did 2 transactions of the Nature Valley Sweet and Salty 4 boxes each transaction and received a $3.00 catalina for each one. Using the 1.79 SW in ad coupon and 2 -75/2 coupons I paid 5.16 for 4 boxes minus the $3.00 catalina makes it 2.16 for 4 boxes.
Hazel says
Stopped at the same Safeway this morning for more cat food and was told I didn’t need to use 3 flyer coupons on the Friskies. Yesterday I was told that I did.
I’ll take the 3 just in case.
Jamie says
Did you need to use 3 or no?
Hazel says
Nope, just one. Gotta say this cat for cat deal is beyond purrrrfect. Got my 30 cans on one transaction, then turned around and got a thing of Sunsweet Prunes for .99 using the cat and an in-ad coupon.
Another trans got my 30 cans then turned around and got a small can of Mellita coffee for $1.99 (using the Smart Source coupon and a cat)
With 3 wee fuzzballs, it’s not like I’m going to wind up with too much cat food and eating Friskies on a Ritz. Although Andy Griffith used to say anything tastes good when it sits on a Ritz I don’t think he meant cat food.
Casey says
I bought three boxes of Nature Valley Granola Bars today and only received a $1 catalina. That makes them just over $1 per box so still an ok deal. π
Jill says
I bought four boxes of Nature Valley Granola Bars and received a $2 catalina. I bought two California Pizza Kitchen pizzas and only received a $1 catalina. I also bought eight boxes of Rice Krispies and received a catalina for a free gallon of milk up to $4, it said thanks for celebrating National Breakfast Week with Kellogg’s, Dannon and Peet’s!
Robin says
Yes I guess even though its a packaged seafood. Thank you Tere.
Tere says
Rather, that should say the catalina offer excludes seafood.
Robin says
I bought 4 Healthy Choice Entress and 1 California Pizza and received the $5 catalina. Then I bought 3 Gorton Salmon Fillets @ $3.49 each and used the $5 catalina and 3 MQ for .50/1 but did not receive the $5 catalina on the 2nd purchase. Any one know why?
Tere says
Coupon excludes seafood. π
AMY says
If you live in or around Greeley, the Safeway ad from the Greeley Tribune has a coupon for “Get a $0.30 per Gallon Reward When You Spend $50 or More on Groceries at your Greeley Safeway.” This is 300 Gas Reward Points. You have to spend it in one transaction and present the coupon. The Safeway ad from the Fort Collins Coloradoan does not have this coupon.
AMY says
There is a printable coupon from Smartsource for $1 off a bag of Wonderful Pistachios, making them $4.
Hazel says
I have an Aunt in Iowa that loves the Whoppers Robins Eggs and I needed to get some for a box heading her way. They were at $2.00 a bag at Safeway yesterday, not sure if that price is still good. I used the $2.00/3 MQ and essentially got the 3rd bag free.
I’ve always loved these things so I kept the 3rd bag for myself. Of course I had to open it while watching Biggest Loser. I’m happy to report that they’ve moosed with the formula – the ratio of malt ball to chocolate to candy shell is totally off.
This is great news to me, I’ll never be lured in again π
Kath says
You make me laugh. Love it thanks

I scored the Kelloggs Crunch Cereals last week at SW with the 4/4 Q, and used several of the others at KS. I got 38 boxes of Kelloggs!!! WooHoo!!!
Trinh says
Hi, I don’t think the $4/4 Kellog’s coupon will work. 1) It expires Wednesday 2/29/12 and the sale doesn’t start until Friday and 2) on my coupon it says for the Rice Krispies it is for the 12 oz only and the sale is for 16.5 oz. I was able to print 4 of the $4/4 Kellog’s coupons but they are very specific on what it can be used for. I was lucky enough to get the $5/5 off ANY Kellog’s cereal coupon and was able to use them at King Soopers for their 50% off sale.
Amber via Facebook says
Thanks! Going to try to use my $4 off coupon for cereal and combine with the free milk coupon. π
