I was at Safeway in Fort Collins on Saturday and they had Valentine cookie dough on clearance for half off. The Pillsbury Valentine Disney Shapes were $0.75 each and I had printable coupons for $1.10 off (1) Pillsbury Disney Cookie Dough, so they were free. I don’t think it is Safeway’s policy to give overage, but these coupons scanned without a beep and $1.10 was taken off. They also had Pillsbury Valentine Funfetti Cookie and Brownie mixes on clearance for $1.50 and I have coupons for $1.50 off (1) Funfetti Mix, making them free. Be on the lookout!
Hazel says
With a heavy sigh I must report that neither Castle Rock nor Castle Pines had the new chocolate filled Twinkies. What a bummer – I had cleared out a little nook in the freezer for them.
Do you ever wonder if Safeway has these things in back and knows there is a coupon out there so they don’t release them? They did that with the new Cheerios flavors a few weeks back. Rather amazing to see the sale end and the next day, there they were on the shelves! Course I wasn’t all smartlike and save the flyer / in-ad coupon so I could march in there and be a gruff Billy goat.
However, those BenVita things (I think that’s it, the new Nabisco breakfast biscuits) have tearpads for a buck off and they’re still on sale so you can get them for $1.49 a box. They only had the tearpads at Castle Pines though, not Castle Rock. Wal*Mart had a sample lady out Saturday and I tried one, well worth the chomp! Since it’s a buck off I’ll have to check WM price.
Andrea says
Yes, Safeway gave me no problem with Pineapple deal. I got 16 for free at one time. I chose a variety of tops so not to clear the shelf on one particular type. They gave me no hassle. My daughter is collecting cans for the food drive at her school.
Kathie says
I tried the pineapple deal. Safeway won’t let you use a coupon on a free item.
I bought 4 and was able to use 1 coupon. The scanner beeped I knew it was too good to be true, still .25 a can not bad.
Carol says
My Safeway let me use 2 coupons on 4 cans. It made them all free.
HighPlainsMom says
It is true that they won’t let you use *two* coupons on a BOGO deal but you can use one…..in other words, you still get one free and your coupon applies to the one you were paying for.
And you can’t use a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale.
I always shop with a hard copy of the store coupon policy in my binder. It comes in handy sometimes!
Robin says
Yes the pineapple is on BOGO sale through 2/21. Enjoy!
Crystal says
Thanks! We’ll be heading there tomorrow.
Nicole J. says
There is also a $1/4 Rice-A-Roni coupon on facebook, which makes the Rice A Roni a better deal!
Hazel says
Top o’ the mornin’ to ya, Nicole –
If you’re close to a Soopers, check out their Rice-A-Ronis. The store in Castle Pines has a few varieties on close-out, I think they’re .54 or something wacky like that.
That Soopers has a lot of close-out items in their rice and noodle section making for some seriously cheap eats.
May not be in all the Soopers, but at least CP is doing it.
Hazel says
Mailman just brought the All You mag for March and there’s a .50/2 Dole coupon – page 96
Yowza … take a look at the pic of the cake on the page. That recipe looks like something even I could handle!
Crystal says
Do you ladies know if the pineapple is still on sale? We grabbed some too but wanted to get more and never got back to Safeway seeing as my closest store is an hour away. 🙂
Hazel says
Ayup, at least it’s still going on at the store @ Castle Pines. Don’t forget to wear your Carmen Miranda hat for the peachy pineapple-y free fest 🙂
Crystal says
Thank you!!!
HighPlainsMom says
LOL @ Carmen Miranda — I totally need me a fruity Carmen Miranda hat! Between that and my bright pink coupon binder I would definitely stand out!
HighPlainsMom says
The Nivea lip care products are on sale for 1.99. With the $3/2 coupon that makes them 50 cents each. I *love* stocking up when these go on sale. They are great for Colorado winters.
Grands Biscuits are 10/$10 and there are .40 coupons that expire on Sunday.
Blue Diamond Almonds are on sale 2/$5 and there was a $1 off coupon recently. Sorry – I don’t file by insert so I don’t know the date!
Hazel says
Just wanted to thank you again for the Dole Pineapple post – the coupon genies sure said be fruitful on that one! I’m going to keep a few for myself but the rest will be donated. It’s so nice to be able to fork over some fruit, even if it is canned!
I don’t file by insert either – we may be on the same coupon clutch organizational plain! (But not with the rain in Spain, nope.)
HighPlainsMom says
Wasn’t that free pineapple just peachy? I mean, pineapple-y? 🙂
I’m a binder girl….not to be confused with Bond girl! If I don’t clip and file then I’m a mess!
Hazel says
Bond, HighPlainsBond. Has a nice ring to it!
I don’t do a binder either, but I do clip them all Sunday mornings. Okay, fine, I like to touch them – like I would if they were real dollar bills. Wait, in our crazy couponing world, they ARE dollar bills 🙂
Halibut, clipping and playing with my coupons is the closest thing I’ll ever get to a treasure bath!
Have a great weekend!
Hazel says
err, I neither bind nor keep them sorted by insert. I think I need a Twinkie – my thought process isn’t reaching my typing ginfers.
Nicole J. says
There’s a coupon in the back of the ad for poptarts for $1.99- I printed a $.70/1 coupon a few weeks ago, so if you have that coupon it would make poparts $.99- is that a pretty good deal? I don’t normally watch the poptart sales so I wasn’t too sure 😛
Hazel says
There’s an in-ad coupon on the Hormel Fully Cooked Entrees @ $3.99 – with the coupon for a buck brings them down to $2.99 ($1/1 Hormel Refrigerated Entree, exp. 4/9/12 (SS 02/12/12 R)
I haven’t bought one of these is ages – should I pounce on this or have we seen these things go a lot lower?
Jamie via Facebook says
Thanks! I love prego sauce. I am going to get that this week 🙂
Tere says
Hoping there are some hidden deals this week at Safeway. Purchased Lowe’s gift cards yesterday for the 4x fuel and $10 cat and since they have to be used within 7 days, I need some great deals to magically appear! 🙂
