Tax day is quickly approaching, and I’ve received a few e-mails requesting me to post the free tax preparation options again.
Both H&R Block and TurboTax are offering free federal tax filing this year. These services work well if you have a simple return to complete. Make sure to keep in mind that you will need to pay for your state taxes to be filed, as that is not free.

There are both also great if you simply want to get an estimate of your return before you meet with a CPA!

TaxAct.com is also free for efiling a federal return. The state e file was 14.95. This is the only free site I have found that will let you do a schedule C. The last time I tried Turbo Tax (which I used to faithfully use) it would not, and neither would HR Block.
