-A entrepreneur applies to World Vision for a small loan (aka a micro loan).
-WorldVision approves the borrower. Typically, they are women in developing countries who have no collateral or credit history to secure a traditional loan.
-After a borrower has been approved for a loan, their name, story, and business idea are uploaded to Micro for people like you and me to view.
-We read their story, See their business idea. Donate to help.
-Thanks to that donation the borrower can start their business and create jobs to benefit the whole community.
-Once the loan is repaid (the current repayment rate is 98.7%), the donation recycles over and over again to helping an ever-growing amount of entrepreneurs in the same country!

You can even connect one-on-one with your entrepreneur or by sign up for e-mail updates from them! Now, I don’t know about you, but I think that is just awesome! 

Another exciting feature is that you can buy Micro gift cards as gifts for your friends and family and they can select their entrepreneur and follow their success! Now that is really a life changing gift that keeps on giving!

  27. What an amazing organization. I love that I can pick who gets my donation and actually know what the money is going toward. This is a great way to “teach a man to fish” instead of just providing the fish!

  29. i visited the microfinance website. it was really amazing to learn that $671 is the average loan amount in the program – when here in the united states, most people take out business loans thousands, millions, billions of dollars more than that.

  53. I visited the World Vision website — of the countries where they operate, I am most interested in the Philippines (one of my uncles lived there many years ago). Many of those seeking loans operate small stores, and just need help to buy merchandise that they can sell.

  73. Just visited the World Vision website. What an amazing idea! I am donating to Natalia Piña Gonzalez in Mexico right now! One because avocados are my favorite and two because you can’t help but adore a woman who escaped an abusive marriage and is helping her daughter get through school. This is a fabulous organization.
