Neilsen Consumer Panel is accepting new members to their Panel! I was also recently informed that they have also added new areas, so if you’ve applied before and got declined now would be a great time to try again.
If you are accepted as a panel member, the National Consumer Panel will provide you with a hand-held scanner. Every time you or members of your household shop, you’ll use the scanner to scan the bar-codes on your purchases. Then, once per week you transmit your purchase information to Nielsen by placing the scanner in it’s base and hitting “transmit”.
In exchange for transmitting your purchase information, you’ll earn gift points that are redeemable for name-brand merchandise, including electronics equipment, jewelry, household items, toys, and much more! You will also earn entries into their many exciting sweepstakes.
If you are interested in becoming a Panel member just head on over to see if they are accepting new members in your area.
Have you worked with NCP in the past? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Some people love it and others find it too time-consuming. My opinion? You can always try it and send it back if you don’t think it is for you…they pay for all the shipping (even to send it back) so all you have to do is drop it in the mail.

I had been a member in the past and am now back as a member. They have changed a lot now you do not have to tell who is shopping just where and some stores you must put in the purchase price but I have found that if I remove items from one bag at a time that is the way they are on my reciept from the store making it easier to scan. One thing that bugs me is produce and meat must be entered from a booklet, no bar code, and I wish they had a list on a magnet for the fridge it would be much handier. oh well it is still fun and the gifts are nice too! Join if you have some free time to scan when you get home other wise do not join it is too hard to do after your trip is put away.
