I just tried this deal at Safeway and the register and the clerk denied the coupon because the coupon value was one cent over the value of the item.

Anna~ Make sure to take their coupon policy with you to the store next time. You can find it under the Getting Started tab above. #1 on their policy says that they are able to adjust coupons down to the value of the item:
1. We will redeem coupons only for the specific items included in our customer’s purchase transaction. The redemption value will be as stated on the coupon, unless that value yields a final price for such item less than zero; if application of the redemption value yields a price less than zero, the coupon will be redeemed only for the amount that yields a zero price (our customer cannot net a cash credit or payout from a coupon purchase).

Basically what Jennie said but I just wanted to let you know that I get the 3rd degree at Safeway all the time for issues like this. I only shop there for freebies or screaming deals for that very reason! (I’ve had the cashier actually unpack my bags at the end of my order to make me prove I bought the correct items.) I always keep copies of the most current store coupon policies in my binder because I wouldn’t have the first clue how to pull it up on my phone!

Don’t know if you posted this yet: the carefree are also free with the 50 cent off any carefree. It doubles to 99cents. Got 6 free today
