Neilsen Consumer Panel is once again accepting new members!
If you are accepted as a panel member, the National Consumer Panel will provide you with a hand-held scanner. Every time you or members of your household shop, you’ll use the scanner to scan the bar-codes on your purchases. Then, once per week you transmit your purchase information to Nielsen by placing the scanner in it’s base and hitting “transmit”.
In exchange for transmitting your purchase information, you’ll earn gift points that are redeemable for name-brand merchandise, including electronics equipment, jewelry, household items, toys, and much more! You will also earn entries into their many exciting sweepstakes.
If you are interested in becoming a Panel member just head on over HERE to see if they are accepting new members in your area.
Have you worked with NCP in the past? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Here is an e-mail that I received from Sue about NCP a while back:
Hey Jennie! I just wanted to say thanks for letting me know about Neilsen Homescan. I homeschool our four children and this has become a fun learning tool for my family. They now fight over who gets to scan the groceries when I get home from the store. I love it because it teaches them how much food really costs and how much money can be saved by using coupons and shopping smart. Thank you once again!

Deanne, Same thing here. I didn’t mind scanning and sending it in but I shop at so many stores it got old trying to remember what coupon I used on what and what the final price was. And then they wanted to know when you bought gas and how much it was a gallon and what shopping you did. Way too much work!!
Deanne says
I tried them last year. I remember each scan taking forever because you have to enter the price if any coupons you use plus if it was on sale or not. It was a lot of work and didn’t feel worth all the trouble to me.

Wow, I can’t believe it but, it’s almost been a year since I got my NCP scanner and started my scanning:)
You get different goodies on different anniversaries and I’m saving my points for a “big ticket” item. I also use it as a tool to teach my kids the cost of groceries and how much you can save with coupons! Once you get the hang of it, it becomes just part of the process of shopping and doesn’t seem so cumbersome 🙂
I keep my scanner in the kitchen so as to never forget to scan any items purchased.
It’s also teaching us “patience”, one of the fruits of the Spririt.
