Many of you know that JCPenney recently revamped their pricing strategy by eliminating most coupons and their “all over the board” sales. They now have introduced “Best Price Fridays” and month long values.
I have not made it out to one of their stores since the pricing changes so I’m looking forward to getting some advance notice on the Best Price Fridays.
What do you think about JCPenney’s new pricing strategy?

HI I can tell you that you can plan on clearance the first and third fridays of every month. The red tickets are the prices that are new no discounts yet. But as time goes by just like other clearance you will see the price drop. I like the new prices it is whole numbers no guessing taxes at the end because I have been rounding up. I found cardigans for $2 in the last few weeks for work and they were great quality =Worthington.

Sweet — I guess I have a date at JCP on Good Friday! lol

I liked the old Doorbuster sales. I haven’t figured out the new system yet to know whether I can still get my old favorite deals. I always bought my work clothes in their Worthington area for 40% or more off by watching the sales. Not sure I can do that reliably any more.

I like the new pricing. My small town doesn’t have a lot of options for clothes, JCP and Wal-Mart are pretty much it. But I went to JCP just as they were making this switch and found lots of sweaters for $7 and $8 and other things for $5. I like the simplified model. The “Best Price” Fridays, I am not sure I totally understand, but they lowered all their prices, so I like the idea that if I need something specific I can go there and not feel like I am being ripped off because it is not a “Sale” Day.

I don’t shop often at Penneys but I agree that this new strategy seems a little over-complicated to me. I often do clothes shopping on a whim and I don’t want to be wondering whether it’s the right day of the week or month to get the best deal. I suppose the emails would be a handy reminder.

I think by trying to make things “easier”, they have actually made it more complicated! I’ll be sticking with Kohls where I can combine coupon codes and get free shipping and Kohl’s cash.
