Many of us has watched the heartbreaking footage coming out of Japan throughout the weekend. The earthquake and tsunami have left behind epic destruction that is certain to change the country’s history.
One of the things I love about blogging is the very close frugal blogging network that I have the privilege to be a part of. I get to work with other bloggers daily on the similar goal of helping our readers save money. I’m thrilled to team up with some of those wonderful blogging friends today to really make a difference in Japan by each doing our small part. I hope you will join us. Here is what you can do:
Pray.
The earthquake and tsunami have affected people worldwide. The Bible tells us that it is God’s will for us to pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances. Please join me in praying for everyone affected by this tragedy.
Give.
Even a $1 or $5 donation can make a difference when we all pull together. If every Bargain Blessings subscriber gave just $5, we could raise $20,000! How awesome is that?!?
If and when you do choose to give, it is important to know that you are giving to a reliable organization. Make sure to do your research as unfortunately there are those out there that will try to take advantage of generous hearts. Here are some options for giving:
The American Red Cross: You can make a donation on line. Or, you can simply text REDCROSS to 90999 and instantly donate $10 to the Japanese relief efforts.
The Salvation Army: You can also donate on-line here as well. You can also text JAPAN or QUAKE to 80888 and make an instant donation.
Heart to Heart International: Only 2% of all donations are kept to cover overhead. That means 98% of what you send to them will actually make it to the quake ravaged areas.
Convoy of Hope: A faith based organization that I had the privilege of working with on Hurricane Katrina response a few years ago. 92% of donations go directly to relief and outreach efforts.
Here are the other amazing bloggers that I am teaming up with on this initiative:

Way to do what you can. Situations like this seem kind of overwhelming, and it would be easy to say “Other people will help.” I love to see people do what they can to make a difference with what they have.
