If you have access to a commissary and your a Walgreens shopper, I have some AWESOME news for you! Traci recently received word that the commissary will accept Walgreens Register Rewards as coupons!!!!! This is HUGE, and I mean HUGE news! I do not currently shop at the commissary just because it is so far away, but if they are going to take Register Reward you better believe I will be whopping there! Here is the e-mail that Traci received:
Thank you for bringing the coupons from Walgreens to our attention…the coupons you presented to us CAN be used at the commissary. We can accept manufacturer coupons, however the coupon cannot state that it has limited use in a certain store. For example, the coupons that you gave us stated \”redeemable at Walgreens\”, these coupons will be accepted because it does not state that it is ONLY redeemable at Walgreens.
Thank you again for making this a learning experience for all of here at Fort Carson. We appreciate your patience for allowing us to look further into the situation.
The details in the above e-mail were confirmed by Ms. Danna Eldgridge, head of Customer Service for DECA. This great news as it should apply to all commissaries and it should also apply to all catalinas since they are all technically manufacturer coupons. Just as long as the catalina does not state that it can only be used a a specific store, you should be good to go.
Important: As with all things like this, I doubt it has been communicated down the each of the individual commissaries, so I suggest calling ahead and speaking with the store or customer service manager, so they can have time to check with Ms. Eldgridge if they have any questions. That way, you don’t waist your time shopping only to get denied at the register.

I have been told that military families can use expired coupons up to 6 months after expiration date. Do you know if this is true and if so, do you know if I can drop these at the commissary to be given to families who would use them?

Tammy, It is true that military families can use coupons up to 6 months after the expiration date if they are shopping at a Commissary over-seas ie: Germany. There are several websites that collect expired coupons for the military families that are abroad

Just got confirmation from the grocery manager at Buckley that the RR CAN be used. He said the cashiers *should* know, but he will rebrief them at their next meeting so everyone is up to date. Yay!

That is great news Stefanie! Thanks for the confirmation!

Joanne~ Yes, the same rule should apply. I would contact your head cashier and ask them to look into it. 🙂

I would think this applies to Target printable coupons that say Manufacturer's Coupon at the top. They don't say anything about being redeemable *only* at Target, as a matter of fact, they only have the Target logo on them. I was told by a Ft. Carson cashier that she wouldn't accept a coupon like that because it had the logo on it. Any other thoughts?

NOTE:
Only those with a military ID may shop at the Commissary. I'm not sure if everyone reading knows that.
I used my every first RR at the Ft. Carson Commissary today, woo-hooooo!
