Up and down, up and down… When you’ve got a newborn at home there is a lot of up and down during nighttime feedings. This is why the HALO Bassinest Swivel Sleeper Premiere is included in my Must Have Baby Items for First Time Parents Guide.
As a brand new Mom, the HALO Bassinest was such a blessing when we first brought Arietti home from the hospital and still is now two months later. We decided early on in our pregnancy that we would want to have our baby girl in our room for at least her first four months and I’m thankful that the Bassinest has made it not only possible, but very pleasant!
Features I Love
It’s not called the a “Swivel Sleeper” for nothing….
One of the things that appealed to me the most about the HALO Bassinest Swivel Sleeper Premiere was the unique 360 degree rotation feature that allows the Bassinest to easily be moved over the bed for feedings and then out away from the bed to make it easy to get in and out without waking the baby.
This swivel sleeper allows for us to have a co-sleeping experience while knowing that Arietti has her own safe space just inches away. When we first brought her home from the hospital my protective mommy self wanted to check on her frequently while she was sleeping and being able to do this without getting out of bed, or even sitting up was priceless. Our sleep “experience” has certainly changed with having a new baby, but I’m convinced that the Bassinest has made it possible to have a much smoother transition while getting as much sleep as possible with a newborn.
Easy to See and Reach Baby
The mesh sides of the Bassinest make it very easy to see Arietti while she is sleeping. I love that it also allows her to see us to give her the comfort of knowing we are close.
The front sidewall of the Bassinest lowers to make taking baby girl out and putting her back in very easy.
The Sleeping Toolbox
One of the bonus features that comes with the Premiere version of the Bassinest is the handy, easy to reach, control panel which can be used to activate a light with two different brightness settings, a sound box that plays a variety of music and sounds to help soothe baby, a nursing timer feature and a vibration feature with two different settings.
We’ve used the light, sound and vibration features the most with Arietti. The light, combined with the mesh sides allow me to check on her when needed and I love that it isn’t so bright that it wakes her up. Thankfully Arietti is a pretty good sleeper, but when we do need some help with soothing her to sleep both the sound and vibration features have come in really handy.
Fully Adjustable, Safe and Sturdy
The height of the Bassinest is adjustable between 22″ and 34″ so we were able to get it just the right height for our bed.
It has a heavy base with four legs that makes it extremely sturdy. I like that the base also saves space over a traditional bassinet because the legs slide right under the bed.
The HALO Swivel Sleeper Bassinest Premiere Series can be purchased on Amazon for $249.99.
HALO also sent me one of their brand new 100% Cotton Muslin SleepSack Swaddles. I didn’t know it before Arietti arrived, but this has proven to be one of the most useful “tools” for helping all of us to get a good night’s rest.
Our air conditioner went out when Airetti was around a month old and of course it was in the high 90’s that week and the repair man couldn’t make it out for a few days. The soft, breathable cotton muslin fabric of the SleepSack Swaddle was perfect for keeping her cool enough to sleep comfortably at night even though the house was warmer than we would have liked.
The inverted zipper makes for easy diaper changes that do not require us to unswaddle her so she is able to go back to sleep more easily.
Most importantly, I’m thankful that the SleepSack allows baby girl to sleep comfortably without loose blankets that have the risk of being pulled over her face.
We’ve since purchased a few more SleepSacks because we love the first one so much and she is getting close to growing out of the newborn size.
There are three different ways to use HALO Sleepack Swaddles including:
Arms In: This was Arietti’s favorite for her first six weeks. I could tell that she really felt secure and was able to fully relax in her swaddle.
Hands-to-Face: Once Arietti started becoming a little more mobile she started to enjoy the hands-to-face style of swaddling.
1 or 2 Arms Out: We love the option of having one or two arms out for daytime naps and we will be using this stele more often to transition her to a SleepSack wearable blanket.
Overall, I’m so thankful for both our Bassinest and SleepSack for helping our family to get a safe and good night’s rest!
