Here are the three random facts about me for today’s edition of getting to know you!
1. I’m currently making my way through a few TV series on Netflix…I recently finished Jericho and White Collar which were both awesome. I started Mad Men, but didn’t really care for it.
2. I splurge to get my hair highlighted every 6-7 weeks. Nope…not a natural blonde here! 😉
3. My favorite meal is tacos and has been since I was little! How about you?

I enjoy watching the Walking Dead when the season starts. I love zombie movies. I make my own Halloween costumes every year and create awesome prosthetic’s and effects to go with each outfit.
I love going on back road trips in the mountains when I can get away. So much to see in our own state. Not much of a desire to travel elsewhere.

I am addicted to this site and cant wait to take your Thornton meal planning class! I have built a bond with my mother in law since we took your class on basic couponing. I use to have blonde highlights but now dye my hair a natural brown color. I love going to the Bass Pro Shop and getting there Islamorada Sandwich. I am currently watching Revenge and really into it. Season 2 is even better than Season1.

I am a salt & pepper brunette (with more pepper still, thankfully). I used to be medium brown with red highlights (loved it) but over the years, it darkened until the pepper is dark brown. My husband says I’ve earned each one of the salt strands from him 🙂
I absolutely love Armadillo or Palamino’s enchiladas! My favorite home cooked meal is grilled rib eye (I’m with you Robin-make mine medium rare) with a baked potato (sour cream and butter, thank you) and corn on the cob. But since I am on a low carb diet, just give me the steak!
I must say that my favorite TV show is “The Voice.” Love, love, love it!
It’s been GREAT “meeting you all!
Jennie says
Oh I’ve been to Armadillo! Love that place. 🙂 And for the record…I’m a well done kinda girl!

I will also recommend Once Upon a Time–I am disappointed that I missed some of this season, so I’m waiting for the rest of it to come out on Netflix Instant before I pick it up again. But it definitely hooked us. It does have fairy tale stories throughout, as it is the product of fairytale characters who have been thrown into the real world, but it is definitely a drama, not a spoof.
I am also waiting for seasons 2 and 3 of Downton Abbey to be added to Netflix Instant, but I’m getting close to breaking down and buying it.
My husband has been stuck on Alias recently, and although I roll my eyes at the obvious liberties the show takes at times, it is definitely interesting.
If you don’t like spoofs you might not like this show, but one of my faves has always been Better Off Ted. It is very funny, and though it was short-lived, I have watched all of the episodes at least twice, and I’ve actually seen a few of them four or five times.
As for my hair, well, I am a brunette through and through. If I was still working full-time, I would splurge on the full regimen of beauty grooming rituals: Cuts, highlights, waxes, and fake nails, but I am currently clipping my nails as short as possible, and I haven’t had a haircut for almost a year. My eyebrows have also been screaming at me for months, but they’ll have to learn to stay tamed with just tweezers.
As for meals, well…I am partial to everything I’m not allowed to eat. LOL. I’m on a pretty strict diet to keep migraines at bay, and while the deprivation is completely worth it to avoid the pain, there’s nothing like an ounce of dark chocolate after not having even one bite for two years. I never realized why chocolate was such a big deal until that moment!
Jennie says
Have you gotten an Amazon Prime trial yet? That is how I watched Dowton Abbey…for FREE! 🙂
Anna says
I am only just now finding a hair or two that doesn’t match the rest.
I never have enough time for TV. So I have a long list of shows that I love, but I’m ages behind on all of them. Eureka, Sherlock, Merlin, Warehouse 13, Burn Notice, Switched at Birth, Bones, etc, etc.
Robin says
TV with the husband is NCIS and NCIS/LA but I tune in RM PBS, channel 6 and enjoy the Midwives, Sherlock Holmes and others or any nature program.
I am a natural silver grey. I used to dye my hair every 3-4 weeks but figure I earned this so might as well go with it!
My favorite meal is a good steak cooked over the grill with a nice baked potato and salad. Make mine medium rare please! And I love fresh baked bread. and yes I do bake it myself.
Jennie says
Is Sherlock Holmes a series now? i had no idea! Oh and it’s good to know on the bread baking…that is on my list to re-learn this year (I did it as a child)…so now I know who to ask! 🙂

I must watch Jericho. Must. Biggest Loser is my fave show, but I also have Haven, Cult, Justified and Bates Motel set to DVR. I’m impatiently awaiting the return of my 2nd fave show, Drop Dead Diva.
I have an Aunt in Iowa that always grills steak when I come out to visit. One year, all she could get was Rib Eyes and it was hysterical, she referred to them as “danged ole rib eyes”, and that’s my favorite cut. Now it’s a running joke in the family! For the life of me I can’t figure out what cut she really wanted!
Hazel says
I’m with Grandma Bird … I earned this grey and I’m going to keep it. I was born with dark, dark brown curly hair. It straightened out over the years but when the grey came, it brought the curl / wave back with it. I want all the money I spent on perms over the years refunded, ha!
I just wish it had more silver to it, I think what they call mine is champagne.
(the mustache and chinny, chinny, chin tweakers still come in dark though, boo hiss!)
Libby says
Well, you certainly are pretty! I”m a natural blonde but my husband likes highlights so I get them occasionally (it may become more often as I’ve noticed some natural gray as well). The only show we have been watching together regularly is “Once Upon a Time”. I guess my favorite meal would be chicken fajitas at our local Mexican restaurant!
Jennie says
Oh you are so kind. Thank you Libby. 🙂 Once Upon at Time…is that one that is kinda a fairy tale spoof? I’m not a big fan of spoofs, but I keep hearing about that one!
Libby says
Yes, it’s a spin on classic fairy tales like Snow White and Rumpelstiltskin set in modern times with flashbacks and back stories to their original settings – great costumes!
Jennie says
Good to know…maybe I’ll have to check it out sometime!
