Thanks to everyone who shared a fact or two about yourself in the first edition of getting to know you! Here it goes for day two!
1. I have three dogs: Sampson, Lila and Anabelle. As you can see they are the little white cotton ball type and yes, they are a tad yippy but I love them to death. I never thought I’d be an owner of small dogs, but my house and yard are not that big so they fit it just right.
2. I played softball for many years growing up. When I first started I was so small and was very bad but after a year of being a worst on the team I decided that there would be no more of that and came back the next year to earn MVP!
3. I’m cold blooded – aka always freezing – and one of my splurges is keeping my heat at 72+ degrees during the winter. I make up for it in the summer though when I very rarely use my AC. 🙂

I avoided this post yesterday, as we spent the day determining if we truly needed to, and then letting go one of our greyhound fur-babies. That’s always the hardest decision to make as a pet owner even when there truly are no other options. So, our 13 year old male is our only pet right now, other than Alpha, our Betta fish. Austin is also a greyhound, and raced until he was five when we quickly became “failed” foster parents and adopted him ourselves. I’m hoping we will be foster parents again, as we fostered five times after adopting Austin, and it was a great experience.
I played field hockey through high school, and my team was actually really good for the tiny school we came from. Then in college, I met my husband as he was attempting to start an ultimate frisbee team, and I spent a couple years being the only girl on the team. If you ever have a chance to watch an ultimate frisbee game, do it. It is a more athletic sport than most, and can be truly exhilarating to watch. There are some great club teams in Colorado, plus some very high ranking college teams, so check it out!
And lastly Jennie, I am also cold-blooded, and while that changed while I was pregnant, I’m back to it again. In my case, though, it’s not related to thyroid issues, but poor circulation…something I definitely inherited from my mother. 🙂

Awwww…I’m so sorry to hear that Madeline! 🙁 Hugs and prayers for you and your family today…I can’t even imagine.
Field Hockey is one sport that I’ve never played and have no clue how it works. It looks fun though!
I wouldn’t be surprised if mine was related to poor circulation too…I refused to sit on my bottom in my school desk until about high school…always sat on my knees. 🙂

Mine isn’t thyroid, it’s a little thing chickies go thru as we ripen, the (duh duh dunh) mental paws. HotColdHotColdHotColdHotCold … s’why I’m always elated when I see Big Pillows on sale at Kohls!
I have three wee feline fuzzballs …
Kitty Sosay named after Keyser Sose from a flick a while back called the “Usual Suspects”
Snicker Doodles, aka Doodles – that’s just one of the words that always makes me grin, like Ogallala. One can never have too many grins.
Mr. Peabody – he came after the other two, he was a death row kitten and the vet called asking if I could take him. His issues disappeared once he met Sosay and Doodles, best buds ever since. He has coloring that looks like a Tuxedo so Tennessee Tuxedo, Chumley, Sherman …. Mr. Peabody!
It’s so very nice and dare I say, needed, to have them greet me when I get up, come home from work, etc. What I hear is “we love you, we missed you, would you like us to make you a can of Beef-A-Roni and fetch your slippers?” … what they’re really saying is “cease with the pleasantries and feed us”
Doesn’t matter – it’s all in the perception 🙂
I foresee a dawg or two at that time when the fuzzies go, but that will require some fence work. Thank goodness I got thumped onto Bargain Blessings where I can save up for that day!
Bring on the 4 leggeds, yeehaw!
Heather @ My Kansas Life says
I’m always freezing, too! I’d love to turn up my heat, but my hubby is warm-blooded so by the time I’m comfy, he’s sweating!

Jennie~ If you haven’t already done so, have your thyroid checked! I’m in “sunny” CA, and was always freezing. Turns out my thyroid was low. Happy Spring!!
Jennie says
Yeah I really should again. I did a few years back and it was fine, but who knows. 🙂 The sad thing about being self insured is that the selectiveness of insurance vendors makes one (aka me) less inclined to have anything checked out. Certainly that isn’t a good thing and my dislike for the doctors office doesn’t help much either!
Kristy says
Might be a good idea to recheck. I’m hypo and wasn’t diagnosed until I was 26. Go to the 9news health fair.
Jennie says
Oh that’s a good idea Kristy! I just might do that. 🙂
Kristy says
I figured I just gained weight after college. Once I was on synthyroid, I lost 10-15 pounds. Better to check and then you won’t have to battle weight!
Kristy says
Ha! I used to be cold blooded. Then came along the little ones. I am always hot just like my hubby – must be something in those genes. When pregnant, I was known to leave a dinner party to cool off outside!
Jennie says
Well it is good to know that there is hope Kristy!! 🙂
