I was just thinking I should buy or make some new potholders. Mine tend to light on fire, as I get them too close to the element when I’m cooking something on a lower rack. Seriously, I have about 10 and all have burn marks. Luckily they usually burn very slowly and I can blow them out.
Pyrex also breaks under the broiler…

Thanks for letting us know about this. Can you believe we do not have ONE potholder in the house??!?! We usually use hand towels etc.

I’ve personally experienced exploding Pyrex! I added cold water while it was roasting a pork loin in the oven (I know, DUH), but the pan exploded into a million pieces. PTL we were okay, but be careful! 🙂

I accidentally turned on a burner that a Pyrex cake pan was sitting on (thought I turned on the front when I really turned on the back) and the whole thing exploded – pyrex shards and cake all over the room. Thank goodness I had turned my back.
