I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
God never told us that our entire lives would be perfect. In fact, he said just the opposite: “In this world you will have trouble”.
What He did promise is that He has already conquered everything that we have faced, are facing and will face.
I believe that they key allowing this important truth guide our lives is to take a look at where our minds are currently residing. Are our thoughts constantly focused on the “here and now” (a.k.a. troubles in this life) or are we focused on God’s promises for the “then in there” (a.k.a. our eternal lives)?
Wether we choose to believe it or not, God is working all around us…every second of every single day. As soon as we are able to recognize and grasp on to this truth, all of the toil that we have been subjecting ourselves to in our daily lives and thought lives seems rather frivolous. While we sit there thinking, analyzing and worrying He is standing there saying “Hello! I’ve already overcome this…you are wasting your energy!”
Lay it down…give it back to him…because He has already overcome it…
