I was talking to a good friend yesterday about how her church is currently going through a series on prayer. One of the things my friend has made a commitment to do each morning is take a few minutes before the kids get up to simply ask for enough God given grace to get through the day. It isn’t a long and drawn out prayer or anything…just short and sweet. Now certainly there is nothing wrong with a nice long prayer time with God, but what about those days when it just doesn’t happen? I don’t know about you, but for me if I don’t do it right away it usually gets blown off all together (sorry to say).
Why is it sometimes so difficult for us to give our Father a moment of recognition in the morning? It really shouldn’t be…after all, He is the reason were here!
My friend was telling me during our conversation how much smoother her days goes when she does ask for God’s grace and help to get her through. Yesterday her two year old quietly played in his room for over an hour which allowed her to get all of the housework done that she needed to. Now that obviously isn’t something that is too hard for God to help out with, but I think He really appreciates it when we take the time to ask. It seems like it should be such a simple and natural thing for us to do but I’m the first to admit that it isn’t. I think that it is something that takes practice until it becomes habit.
Starting today, I’m making it a goal to give God some time in the morning…no matter how busy I am or how many things there are to do! Will you join me? My plan is to do another follow-up post on this in about a month from now. I can’t wait to see how much of a difference that God centered time in the morning makes in my life!
PS~ While I’m on the subject, I wanted to remind you all that there is a Prayer Requests page on the website. I love being able to pray for my readers and hope you will help me in lifting up each other in prayer. Please feel free to leave a comment on the Prayer Request page any time you like!

This post is so timely for me! Gos has been trying to ell me to do this for months and this week I swear there have been at least three references to spending time with God first thing in the morning! I am one who doesn’t allow for any extra time – always said I’d rather sleep a few more minutes than eat breakfast before leaving for work! Thanks for this great and meaningful post!
