We knew it wouldn’t take long for Dollar Tree to release their new Coupon Policy, now that they will be accepting coupon on August 26th!
Here is a quick summary of the most signifncant details:
- Only two (2) print-at-home Internet coupons may be redeemed per transaction.
- We are unable to accept coupons for โFreeโ items with no purchase requirements or where the amount for the product is blank.
- Coupons cannot be redeemed for more than the purchase price of the item.
You can find the entire policy here, make sure to scroll to the bottom of the page to find it. We have also updated the Store Coupon Policies page to include Dollar Tree as well.

I have a question for regarding “free” items. I was told by two store managers today that you could not use a $1.00 coupon on a $1.00 item to get the item for free. You can use a coupon for up to $.99. Is this true? Also, can I use a $1.00 coupon that requires you to purchase multiple items? Such as, $1.00 off of any two Hefty Ziploc bags because I would not be getting the item for free. I am really excited about being able to use coupons at Dollar Tree stores but want to make sure I know the policy without any confusion. I also did put a call into the Corporate office to see if I could get this information verified. I hope someone will call me back.

I had the same problem yesterday trying to use a $1.00 off coupon. The way the policy reads is you can’t use a coupon that says get this free but the clerk took it to mean I can’t use it to get the item free. I’ve heard its worked for other people so may try a different store and see what they say.

I have been to three different Dollar Tree stores and today was by far the best experience. It was the first time the cashier had done coupons but she was very friendly and it went well. It was also the first store I had been to that had coupon guidelines posted at each register. You are right that the policy only states you can’t bring in a coupon for free item. I had good experience yesterday although it took the cashier a little longer but she was friendly. The store that I usually visit I will not be going back because the experience was terrible. One of the managers actually yelled the policy at me and didn’t know why they were even taking coupons.
I think you are right it will vary from store to store. I have several Dollar Trees around so I will just go to the ones I have a good experience at. I have tried contacting the Corporate offices twice but no return phone calls. You can’t get a real person only prompts to leave messages.

2 print at home coupons…does that mean non print at home coupons have no limit?

I have the same questions. I am going to be visiting a few of the Dollar Trees I go to all the time and try and talk to the managers. I see them frequently when I am in the store. I’ll see if I can get more info.
