Many of you are wondering if Amazon offers a Price Guarantee with the one day Kindle Fire HD sale that they just announced. I have included details below that come directly from the Amazon website. As you will see, it depends a little on the item in question, but other than items that are pre-ordered or select TV’s, Amazon will unfortunately not adjust the price of a product after you purchase it.
Pre-Order Price Guarantee
Amazon.com‘s price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and shipped. Whenever you pre-order a book, CD, video, DVD, video game, or software item, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you place your order and the end of the day on the release date. The order summary in Your Account will reflect the lowest price within 24 hours of the price change.
If your order enters the shipping process before the release date and the price is lowered on the release date, we will automatically refund your credit card for the difference between the price you were charged and the release-date price within 48 hours of the release date. If you didn’t use a credit card to pay for your order, please contact customer service through the Contact Us button on the right side of any Help page.
Our Pre-Order Price Guarantee applies only to items sold by Amazon.com, and not to items (or prices) offered by other sellers on our site.
Post-Order Price Match Policy
With the exception of TVs, we do not offer post-order price matching when an item’s price drops after you buy it. Our prices regularly change, and the price you paid when your order shipped was the lowest price we were able to offer at the time. We consistently offer competitive prices on everything we carry because we know low prices are very important to our customers.
Price Matching
With the exception of TVs, Amazon.com doesn’t price-match with other retailers (including those who sell their items on our website). We do, however, consistently work toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry.
In some cases our website offers lower prices via the used and new offerings available from Amazon Marketplace sellers. For more information, see our Seller Help section.
TV Low Price Guarantee
We’re working hard to make sure our prices are the best around. If you find a lower price on another qualifying website within 14 days after the date we ship your order, let us know and we’ll credit your original payment method taking any differences in shipping and promotions into account. If we lower our own price within 14 days after we ship your TV, let us know and we’ll refund you the difference as well.

I bought a Blu-ray Player 10 days back and Today the price has dropped by $30. I chatted with customer support and was able to get the $30 refund.

I did the same thing as Ari. The price of my Amazon item dropped within a week of me ordering it, so I spoke with a chat representative online. They put in a refund request at the end of our chat, and it went through successfully. This goes to show that it IS possible, even though they don’t have the policy written on their website- you just have to ask.

Maybe not officially, but if you see the price drop and ask them, they still may refund the difference. I bought an mp3 player last fall and the price dropped $20 before it arrived; I asked a CSR over Amazon’s chat module if they could refund the difference, and they did. Just today got promised a price difference refund on another, smaller, order for which the item dropped in price overnight after I ordered it. The rep asked for my order # so she could ‘check if the item is eligible’ for a price guarantee, so it sounds like they have a different policy behind the scenes, for customers who bother to ask, than they publicize on the site. I don’t know if they would do this after the item has been delivered to you.
