Peace of mind is priceless to me when it comes to our daughter, so when we are considering carseat quality was top of mind. The Diono Radian RXT is one of the most talked about, highly rated and safest carseats on the market and as soon as we got it out of the box I could why.
To say this carseat is nice would be an understatement. You can tell just by holding it how sturdy it is and the fabric surface is super soft – it even has memory foam. For real- memory foam!
Features I Love
This carseat is super safe!
The Diono Radian RXT has a full steel frame and aluminum reinforced sides for unmatched safety. It has also been NCAP crash tested, the industry benchmark for verifying child seat performance in severe accident conditions.
This seat features a 5-point SafeStop® energy-absorbing harness for children up to 80 pounds and allows children starting at just 5 pounds and all the way up to 45 pounds to comfortably sit in a rear-facing position. We plan to follow the recommendation to keep our daughter rear-facing as long as possible (as allowed by the seat), so I’m thrilled by this!
I love that the Radian RXT also has energy absorbing EPS foam and side impact protection that provides added safety.
It will grow with our baby!
Like I mentioned, this carseat can be used for babies as small as 5 pounds. Arietti was just 5 pounds 9 ounces when she was born, so it was nice to be able to use the seat for her right away. The infant body support cushions and memory foam are perfect for keeping babies of all sizes cozy and comfortable.
It also converts into a booster seat that can be used for children up to 120lbs. That is a whole lot of years of use!
Installation is Easy
This carseat features a unique SuperLATCH system that makes it super easy to install. It took us only around 5 minutes to follow the instructions and get it safely installed in our vehicle.
It’s comfortable, flexible and easy to clean!
I love that this seat is not only safe, but also comfortable with a 12-position adjustable headrest plus several buckle positions.
It also features expandable sides, along seat bottom to allow proper leg support.
Once little ones are big enough this seat’s low-sitting profile will make it easy for them to get in and out. They will also love having their very own cupholder! How cool is that?!
One of the things I appreciate about this seat is that the cover is machine washable. Our daughter spit-up all over the seat we have in our other car and I was shocked to find that it wasn’t machine washable at all.
Three across baby!
The Diono Radian RXT can fit three across in most mid-size vehicles! We do not have three babies quite yet, but this is great to know as our family grows.
Travel is easy!
This seat not only folds flat for travel but also can be work as a backpack and is FAA certified for air travel.
Overall Impression
Overall we really love this seat. I’m thankful for the peace of mind that it gives me while on the road with little Arietti and she seems to be very comfortable riding in it as well!

Did they make you bring the car seat into the hospital room? We also did a convertible seat and skipped the bucket seat, but they made me uninstall it! We’d had it professionally installed!
