Chobani recently issued a large recall on many of their products. Since we’ve seen some great deals on Chobani (and it is just yummy in general in my opinion ;)) – make sure to check your fridge if you’ve purchased it recently.
Here are the details of this recall from the Chobani website:
We recently identified mold in a limited amount of product that came from our Idaho facility.
While this type of mold is common in the dairy environment, particularly when using only natural ingredients that are absent of artificial preservatives, it’s still unacceptable to me and all of our yogurt makers.
Over the past few days, with the help of our retail partners, we proactively withdrew product from store shelves and I decided to voluntarily recall the limited amount of remaining product to be extra careful and cautious.
My heartfelt apologies to our friends, fans and consumers who were impacted, as your loyalty and safety is something we cherish and never take for granted.
We have worked round the clock to fully fix the issue and have been shipping fresh product to stores.
In the meantime, if you purchased yogurt with the code 16-012, Best By: 9/11/2013 – 10/7/ 2013 please discard and contact our Customer Loyalty Team at chobani.com/care to get replacements or refunds.
The good news is that I’ve had my fair share of Chobani during the past couple of weeks and have not notices any mold, nor have I gotten sick (thank goodness). 🙂

Thought I would pass on that I bought some of the recalled yoghurt at Sams Club about a month ago. It was the 32oz plain non-fat kind. We ate 1/2 of it without getting ill. Yesterday I did notice though that it suddenly seemed to be going bad well before the expiration date and then I ran into the recall info on the internet. The info said to contact Chobani support for a replacement, so I took pics and emailed them and tossed it out. I suppose I could have taken it back to Sams too. I also did my 4 store shopping trips yesterday, so looked to see if it was still on the shelves. In most stores (KS, SFWY) they have pulled the affected products. But, Sams still had tons of the same batch I bought for sale in their fridge and the tops were all bulging, so something was going on. I let them know about the recall and hopefully it was pulled.

Yikes! Good for you for letting them know. That is terrible that they had not already. My King Soopers store had them pulled a week and a half ago!
