As I readily admit in my couponing classes, at first I was completely skeptical that these little pieces of paper with barcodes on them could save me any measurable amount of money. I had clipped coupons for years and I sure wasn’t saving any “life-changing” amounts. I obviously know now that I was totally wrong…and I’m so glad I was! I received an e-mail the other day from a reader named Kelly who took one of my couponing classes earlier this year and I wanted to share it with you:
Dear Jennie,
I just wanted to say a Big Thank You! I took your couponing class here in Canon City at our church, at the beginning of the year and since have saved hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on groceries!
You might remember me, I am Kelly. There was a time when I was NOT convinced that couponing was right for me. I think I shared the story of the Catalina’s with you at that class. I was confused into thinking that every time my sister would talk about “Catalina”, that she was talking about the salad dressing. “I’m not interested because I don’t like Catalina”, I would impatiently tell her each time the subject would arise. It’s actually quite funny now to think of how much I really Love do catalina’s!
I’ve attached a picture of just one of a few of my stockpile shelves. I really love this particular shelf, because most of what you see on this shelf was free or at least less than $1.00 each! Love it!!
I have also attached a picture of my shopping trip to Safeway that I did last night. I spent a total of $24.93 out of pocket and I saved a total of $91.95! I have had many, many successful trips, but I thought that I should take the time to let you know how much you have blessed our family with your website and the knowledge of couponing that you share with your followers!
There is no turning back now! Even if I wanted to, my husband wouldn’t be very happy if I started paying full price for everything again! LOL
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!
Kelly
Isn’t that awesome?!? I told Kelly that I could never forget her and her Catalina story…that is just too funny! I hope that if you are still on the fence about this whole couponing thing that you will give it a try…who knows, it could save you hundreds or even thousands too…and I’d be willing to guess that it will! 😉

Hi Heather we miss you!! Kelly, seriously you are doing great!! 🙂 Kristin, it does take a lot of time but the more you do it the easier it gets. You will figure out what works best for you. I have to look at it like getting paid to do a job. Last week I spent about $50 but I saved $205! It took me about 2 hrs to get everything clipped and organized so I "made" more than $100 per hour. Not to bad!! Hang in there it is worth it!

Hey Kristin, It used to take me a long time at first, too. Mostly because I felt like I HAD to get in on every deal that week. Try focusing on only 2 stores to start. Once you get a good stockpile, you can skim for the best deals at 3 or 4 stores and it hardly takes any time.

Heather!!
We miss you guys! Oh yeah, and I really have come a long way huh!?!
So no Safeway?? Bummer! Well, I guess you will just have to come visit and bring Large suitcases! 😉
Hope you are all doing okay!
~Kelly

Hey Kelly,
I just have to say, "You've come a long way baby!". That's an impressive stockpile, I'm proud of you. But I do have to say that looking at your photos made me miss Safeway, couponing in Utah is just not the same without it.
Blessings,
Heather

So what I'm wondering is how much time is it taking people per week to do this?
I've been trying since the spring, and I have saved some money..YAY!!
But it's still a love/hate relationship for me b/c I feel like it takes me a long time to go through all the store posts, compare those to see what store has the best deals, get all the coupons clipped, find/print them on the net, make my list, before I finally get to the store! and then go to multiple stores…
If anyone has any kind of 'system' to share to save time?!?!
