I am very highly considering canceling my cable and trying out Netflix for a month. It seems as though Comcast’s offers are not quite as good as they used to be and I hardly watch TV as it is, so paying the $50+ per month just is not worth it anymore.
Also, Netflix is currently offering a FREE 1 Month trail offer for a limited time, so I really have nothing to lose. The trial can be canceled at anytime with no further obligation.
After my one month trail, I think I’ll go with their $7.99 per month plan to get unlimited movies streamed over the internet to my Computer, Game System or TV!
Quite a few of my friends have tried this as well and have been very happy with not only the savings, but the option to watch any movie at any time through Netflix without the comercials! What is better than a change that saves you money? One that saves you money and works better for your family! 😉

We use Netflix instead of cable too, and love it! The only thing is, the “instant” movies and TV shows are limited, but the variety is still good enough for our family!

Haven’t had satelite in years, have been doing netflix for over a year now, and have been using the wii and computers to view. Just got a blu ray player hooked up in the bedroom to stream movies for hubby who is the movie aholic, trying to get him un addicted from red box as a movie here and there adds up

I agree with everyone else. We’ve been cable-free for 2 years… just waiting for the cable companies to catch on that people want to be able to buy one channel at a time! Hulu is a great resource, BUT not every single show is available. So if you have a show that you can’t go without make sure they show it. In particular I find that CBS is a little picky about what they release to Hulu. We don’t do Netflix, but we do utilize the Blockbuster kiosks quite a bit.

We haven’t had cable for over 7 years now. Plus, we don’t have a Netflix subscription!
We get all the local channel: cbs, abc, nbc, fox, pbs, and several more (ion is very cool) for free with a basic antenna in our attic. We bought it over 7 years ago for about $50, I think. All the channels are HD, even over broadcast!
We rent free movies every now and then from Redbox and Blockbuster Express, but honestly, we can find much better things to do with our time than watch TV. And, if we do want to watch it, we have about 15 channels to choose from for free!
I don’t think we’ll ever pay for TV.

We switched over a year ago and though it was tough at first, I almost can’t imagine going back to satellite ( though I do miss TLC and DHC a bit). We have the $9.99 plan, which allows you one DVD out at a time. The turnaround is only about 4 days so we get a new one at least every week, and it saves us on gas to run to redbox and the like (I drive a Suburban so I save at least that extra $2 in gas!) Enjoy the savings!!

We do the same thing. We have the 7.99 plan and love it. If you don’t mind watching TV shows from past seasons (we don’t mind) it’s great too. Also, we enjoy the documentaries and other unique finds on Netflix. Between Netflix, Hulu, and network shows available on-line I can’t imagine having regular cable. Hope it works for you, it’s a big money saver!
